Iraqi Deputy Foreign Minister Labeed Abbawi concluded his working visit to Vietnam on April 24.
The six-day visit was made at the invitation of leaders of Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During his stay in Vietnam, the diplomat met with Deputy Prime Minister-cum-Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem, passed on communications from Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyier Zibare and held talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Dam Xuan Hung alongside meeting with leaders of several ministries and agencies.

At the meetings, the two sides briefed each other on their countries’ socio-economic situation while exchanging orientations as well as measures to boost their multi-faceted cooperative relations along with views on international and regional issues of mutual concern.

He expressed his admiration for Vietnam ’s struggle for national liberation over the past time and spoke highly of the country’s socio-economic achievements during its 20-year renewal process, contributing to the country’s elevated position in the region and in the world arena.

The diplomat expressed his wish to further strengthen cooperation with Vietnam in numerous areas.

On the occasion, the two sides signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation between the two foreign ministries./.
