Da Nang (VNA) - The Vietnamese Government is actively implementing the Programme of Action to promote the application and development of information technology to meet the requirements of sustainable development and international integration.

The announcement was made by Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Nguyen Minh Hoang, at the opening ceremony of the 8th Asian Conference on Intelligent Information and Database Systems (ACIIDS), held on March 15 in Da Nang.

He said Vietnam’s Programme of Action was being executed while the world was witnessing a boom in "smart machine" development in all areas, including infrastructure, urban services, agriculture, health care, and education, as well as in the operation of the government and nation.

"ACIIDS 2016 is a practical forum for scientists and managers in Vietnam to access the latest IT developments and knowledge in the world to enable the selection of optimal solutions to practical applications in Vietnam," Hoang said.

"ACIIDS has become an internationally respected forum for scientific research on intelligent information and database systems, opening up the prospect of exchanges and cooperation, as well as sharing experience of applications with participants. It also provides opportunities for managers and scientific policy makers to exchange scientific knowledge on the latest technology trends related to information systems."

He hoped the conference would focus on the task of strengthening international cooperation in scientific research and IT human resource training at an international level.

The conference, jointly organised by the Vietnam-Korea Friendship Information Technology College and Poland’s Wroclaw University of Technology, also heard a welcome message from the Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Science and Higher Education Jaroslaw Gowin, and Vietnam’s Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son.

The three-day conference will hear 190 scientists and experts from 30 countries and territories lecturing in 21 thematic sessions, with 153 talks and 40 poster presentations. According to organisers, the conference has received 400 submissions from 36 countries, of which 92 were from Vietnam and 59 from Poland.-VNA
