Italian cities’ preparations for 1,000th anniversary of Hanoi

Florence and its cities of Trento, Milan and Genoa have pledged to
actively participate in activities to celebrate the 1,000th anniversary
of Thang Long-Hanoi.

The cities and province will hold cultural activities from now till the grand ceremony on October 10.
Florence will hold a photo exhibition in May on the province’s former Mayor Giorgio La Pira, who represented the UN General Assembly to Hanoi for a peace talks with President Ho Chi Minh in November 1965.
The province also invited a water puppet troupe from Vietnam to perform in Florence in October.
Many other activities aimed at promoting cultural and trade ties between Florence and Hanoi , as well as Vietnam in general, will also take place in the coming time.
Northern Trento city plans to send its popular child chorus to Hanoi on this occasion.
Milan decided to send its orchestra of La Scala theatre to Vietnam while Genoa set up a committee to support the anniversary of Thang Long Hanoi./.
