With its favourable investment climate, Vietnam will lure more money from Italian enterprises in the near future, visiting Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi said on June 10 during his tour of the Piaggio Vietnam Factory in northern Vinh Phuc province.
Renzi voiced his belief that the Italian investment will be poured into support industries, creating favourable conditions for Vietnamese factories, like the Piaggio one, to grow. This development will, in turn, attract more financing from Italy.
The PM also highly praised the cooperation between experts of the Italy-based Piaggio Group and its Vietnamese factory in helping train Vietnamese workers.
Piaggio Vietnam General Director Costantino Sambuy said his factory, the third largest invested by the group, produced 410,000 Vespa and Liberty scooters by May this year.
In addition to serving the domestic market, made-in-Vietnam Piaggio products are shipped to some other ASEAN countries and many international markets, including Japan, Thailand, the Republic of Korea, China, Australia and New Zealand.
Between 2014 and 2017, the Piaggio Vietnam Co., Ltd plans to expand its successfully-applied operation model to other regional countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia.-VNA
