Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung hosted a reception in Hanoi on January 9 for former Prime Minister of Italy Enrico Letta, during which he affirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy to deepen bilateral ties between the two countries.
The PM said he is delighted at the development of the two countries’ time-honoured friendship and cooperation, which is most recently reflected by the signing of an action plan on the Vietnam-Italy strategic partnership.
He expressed hope that with his prestige and affection for Vietnam, Enrico Letta will continue his contributions to boosting bilateral collaboration across the fields of security, defence, economy, trade, education, and interpersonal exchange, as well as at regional and international forums.
The Vietnamese Government leader also addressed his desire for Italy’s support to facilitate the early signing of a free trade agreement between Vietnam and the EU, alongside its backing for the stance of Vietnam and ASEAN regarding the East Sea issue.
