A total of 45 new talented-but-poor students of universities and colleges in Ho Chi Minh City were awarded the Japan-Niigata nternational scholarships (NVC) on Dec. 23.

The total value of scholarship is worth 450,000 JPY.

The Niigata scholarship programme is funded by the Japan International Volunteer Centre and Mr Bruce Langone with support from various organisations and individual donors in the Japanese city of Niigata.

Launched in 1998, the NVC scholarship programme granted 708 scholarships worth 7.59 million JPY to Vietnamese students.

Beneficiaries are students who have good results in their studies and are living under poor conditions or remote areas, orphaned, disabled, and/or studying music. Female students who study law, medicine, history, the Orient, and are of the ethnic minority are also awarded this scholarship./.
