Japan helps Cambodia upgrade water supply system

The Japanese government has pledged to provide a non-refundable aid worth 36 million USD for Cambodia to carry out two projects on fresh water supply and human resources training.
The Japanese government has pledged to provide a non-refundable aid worth 36 million USD for Cambodia to carry out two projects on fresh water supply and human resources training.

Under an agreement signed in Cambodia on June 5, 33.5 million USD will be used for the upgrade of fresh-water supply systems in the provinces of Kongpongcham and Batambang.

The remaining, 2.5 million USD, will be used for the development of human resources in 2013.

In early 2013, Japan also granted the Southeast Asian country 90 million USD to aid the upgrade of a road connecting Batambang and Sisophon.

Two-way trade between the two countries reached 800 million USD in 2012.-VNA
