Japanese government will provide 88,000 USD to expand a vocational training centre for women in northern Ha Nam province.

An agreement to this effect was signed in Hanoi on June 25.

The centre, run by the Ha Nam’s Women Union, was built in 1997 and is capable of serving 1,500 women meanwhile about 10,000 women are in need of vocational training every year.

The funding will help the union expand the area of the facilities by 1.5 times and buy more vocational training equipment.

After the upgrading, the centre is expected to provide training for 2,240 women every year.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairwoman of the Ha Nam Women Union Tran Thi Cham said the assistance by the Japanese government will help increase local women’s job opportunities.

The project in Ha Nam is part of the Japanese government’s non-refundable aid to Vietnamese localities in the 2009 fiscal year.

Japan has financed several projects on building primary schools, rural roads and clean water supply stations in Ha Nam province./.
