The epicenter was 80 kilometres inland in the northwestern prefecture of Chiba at latitude 35.8 degrees north and longitude 140.1 degrees east.
Although powerful tremors reached Tokyo , especially the prefectures of Taito, Sumida, Koto and Shibuya, there are no reports of casualties so far.-VNA
