The Directorate for Roads of Vietnam (DRV) under the Ministry of Transport and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on July 1 signed a technical cooperation project to enhance the DRV’s capacity in managing and maintaining the road systems.
Under the project, the staffs of DRV will be provided with skills and new technologies for managing and maintaining the national road system with a total length of 16,758 km through training courses in the country.
The project is scheduled to be carried out over two years from the mid of this year with a total cost of 345 million JPY (about 4.3 million USD).
According to JICA, the project will not focus on normal technologies of maintenance and repair but on the application of new software that is able to analyse and assess damaged ratio of the road as well as propose work to be done and project costs./.
