Businesses from Japan ’s Kawasaki city attending a seminar in Vung Tau city on Nov. 17 said they are seeking investment opportunities in Vietnam’s southern coastal province of Ba Ria – Vung Tau in support industries and other industrial sectors.

At the event, the Japanese enterprises debated matters regarding incentives provided by Ba Ria –Vung Tau province and Vietnam , policies on tax and labour hire rates, provincial human resources and infrastructure development around industrial areas.

Tran Thi Huong, Director of the provincial Department of Industry and Trade called on the Japanese enterprises to invest in areas such as production of consumer goods, shipbuilding, and oil and gas processing.

Tran Minh Sanh, Chairman of Ba Ria – Vung Tau People’s Committee, spoke highly of the goodwill of Kawasaki enterprises in studying investment opportunities in the province.

He expressed hope that the businesses will help the province build an intensive industrial area using Japan ’s high tech, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

Following the seminar, the Japanese businesspeople made fact-finding tours of several industrial zones and vocational training centres in the province.

Kawasaki is a major Japanese industrial area and is home to plants manufacturing steel, industrial machinery, petrochemical and electronic products for major groups such as Toshiba, NEC and Fujitsu./.
