Japan’s Fuji Xerox Co., Ltd officially put its plant into operation in the northern port city of Hai Phong on November 19.

With a total investment of 9 billion JPY (119 million USD), the Fuji Xerox plant is now one of the largest foreign direct investment (FDI) projects in Hai Phong.

Covering an area of 18 hectares in the VSIP Industrial Park, the plant specialises in manufacturing colour multifunction equipment and compact printers that use light-emitting diode (LED) technology.

Once fully operational, it will have an annual production capacity of about two million products and create jobs for about 3,000 workers.

Maasaki Nabeta, President and General Director of the plant, said the company will invest in building another similar scale production line at the plant by 2015.

Hai Phong city is one of the country’s leading localities in attracting FDI projects.

By the end of September this year, the city’s economic and industrial parks had 138 valid FDI projects with a total registered capital of 5.368 billion USD.

It expects to lure about 2 billion USD in FDI in 2013.-VNA
