The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development received a ship from the Japanese Government as part of its non-refundable aid for Vietnam to ensure maritime safety.

All three ships in the aid package worth 500 million JPY (4 million USD) are scheduled to be handed over to Vietnam within this year by the Japan International Cooperation System (JICS).

The ship, HAYATO, is 56.13 metres in length and 9 metres wide with a gross tonnage of 1,079 tonnes.

Once it is equipped with tools and devices for operations of the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance Force, the ship will be used to patrol, control and enforce fishery-related laws at sea.

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Tam expressed his profound gratitude to the Japanese Government and JICS, confirming that the ship will be used for the purposes committed between the two governments.-VNA
