Chief Representative of the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO) in Hanoi Atsusuke Kawada has said his agency pledges to put forth measures to support the export of Vietnamese farm produce to Japan.
Vietnam and Japan are potential markets for the import and export of agricultural products. However, Vietnam is facing difficulties in meeting the Japanese market’s requirements in quality and food hygiene and safety.
At a working session in northern Ha Nam province on October 4, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Mai Tien Dung said his province is implementing several projects growing two key crops, pumpkin and soybean, for export to Japan.
The province also provided technical and financial aid to a pilot project covering 40 ha of soybean for the export to the East Asia market, added Dung.
The JETRO representative highly valued the province’s incentives for Japanese enterprises, especially 10 commitments of the provincial People’s Committee including the establishment of a hotline between its chairman and the Japanese firms.
JETRO is a Japanese Government organisation in charge of promoting mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world via its 73 overseas offices in countries and territories across the world. The organisation is cooperating with Vietnam to realise many activities to promote trade and investment exchanges between the two countries.-VNA
