Managerial experience from Japan’s Yokohama Water Bureau andexpertise in safe water supply from the World Health Organisation andother domestic water suppliers were heard at the event.
It was the first step of an almost 3.33 million USD project grantedby Japan to improve operational and management skills forwaterworks’ staff in the natural disasters-prone central region.
The aid also aims to gradually expand safe water for the region, thusincreasing ordinary people’s access to safe water supply and finallyachieving water security through strong cooperation among relevantagencies.
With the Japanese Government’s officialdevelopment assistance, the project will fund workshops like this one,conferences and field-trips for managerial staffs of waterworks in theregion to have opportunities to exchange experiences and improveknowledge.
It will also cover short-term trainingcourses for waterworks’ staff and provide manuals on water treatment,management of water distribution and human resources, and post-saleservices./.
