The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) on March 22 presented the insignia “For the Cause of Agriculture and Rural Development” to Deputy Representative of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Vietnam Yasuhiro Tojo.

According to Luong The Phiet, Acting Director of the MARD’s International Cooperation Department, during his four-year term in Vietnam, Yasuhiro Tojo has made active contributions to building and implementing projects in the agricultural sector, transferring scientific and technological advancements and strengthening management capacity for localities.

Phiet said that JICA has helped Vietnam implement a number of projects, including afforestation on sandy areas, animal disease control, improvement of the adaptability to natural disasters and training in management of national parks and natural reserves.

JICA projects have helped boost the development of Vietnam ’s agriculture and rural development, he added.

Emphasising the importance of Japan ’s assistance to Vietnam , especially in the agricultural sector, Phiet also expressed his wish that Japan in general and JICA in particular will continue their supports for Vietnam in this field./.
