The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) recently decided to provide official development assistance worth 100 million JPY (978,000 USD) for a Japanese vocational facility in northern Vietnam.

Established in 2012 by Tokyo-based Mukai Corporation, the school aims at providing Vietnamese workers with skills required to work at Japan ’s construction sites.

The Japanese Government is also considering recruiting more foreign workers for the reconstruction projects in the northeastern region affected by earthquakes, as well as building infrastructure in preparation for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo.

The school trains about 240 workers each year. In addition to building skills, students are taught how to read and write the Japanese language in order to communicate with locals at construction sites.

They are allowed to work a maximum of 3 years at the construction sites of Mukai and its partners in Japan.-VNA
