Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on April 24 stated that joint work between the Government and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) needs to be more practical and effective.

He made the statement while chairing an annual conference in Hanoi together with President of the VFF Central Committee Tran Thanh Man to review the implementation of the joint work mechanism.

The PM expressed his attention to great national unity and social consensus amid the impact of social media and hostile forces.

He stressed the need to continue improving the outcomes of dealing with citizen’s complaints and denunciations, adding that authorities at all levels and the VFF must hold dialogues with the people and address issues of their concern.

The leader said the people want Part officials and members to set good examples.

PM Phuc also attributed the country’s socio-economic achievements to important contributions by the VFF over the past years.

As the year 2019 marks the 50th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s Testament, the PM asked departments and agencies to renew working methods for socio-economic development, thus meeting aspirations of the people.

According to him, creating social consensus for national development is an important task, and that is why it is necessary to campaign for solidarity and unity among overseas Vietnamese and religions, and to encourage the public to protect the environment and take measures to adapt with climate change.

He called for upholding democracy, especially at the grassroots level and step up national patriotism campaigns to improve material and spiritual lives.

The VFF Central Committee reported that its chapters at all levels conducted nearly 17,000 social reviews on draft legal documents, policies and socio-economic development projects in localities.

It has launched eight supervision programmes with 15 VFF member organisations, 13 ministries, agencies and the Government taking part.-VNA
