Hanoi ’s consumer price index (CPI) increased by 0.91 percent in June compared with the previous month, and 11.86 percent over the same period last year.

According to the Hanoi Statistics Department, most commodities rose in price with food and beverages climbing the most by up to 18.52 percent. Only postal and telecommunications services saw a decline in CPI by 2.5 percent.

Economic analysts say that Hanoi ’s economic growth was only 2.51 percent in the first half of the year due to the impact of the current global economic crisis.

In June, gold prices jumped by 5.78 percent against last month while the price of the US dollar rose by only 0.09 percent.
