Kaesong Park consultancy office to resume operations
The two Koreas have decided to resume the
operations of a joint consultancy office at the Kaesong Joint
Industrial Park.
The Republic of Korea (RoK) and the
Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) have decided to resume the
operations of a joint consultancy office at the Kaesong Joint
Industrial Park, said a spokesperson for the RoK’s Unification
Ministry.
Spokesperson Chun Hae-sung on Sept. 4 told the media that the office will be fully operational by Sept. 7.
The two sides have drawn up a list of personnel to be deployed at the office, said Chun, adding that it would include 13 RoK and six DPRK officials.
Earlier, the DPRK lifted cross-border traffic restrictions, allowing RoK people to once again travel to Kaesong Park .
In Dec. 2008, Pongyang shut down the consultancy office located in Kaesong as well as imposing restrictions in the border region in protest at RoK President Lee Myung-bak's hard-line policies on Pongyang.
At present, there are around 100 RoK companies operating in the Kaesong park./.
