The Pa Uon bridge, spanning the Da river, in Son La province, a key bridge in the northwest of the country, got its final link on April 18.
Construction of the bridge with abutments of 98 metres high, the highest abutment in the country, started in May 2007 and it is expected to open into traffic in July this year.
The 918 m long, 9m wide bridge was built at an investment capital of 740 billion VND (43.5 million USD) invested by the Ministry of Transport.
Addressing the ceremony on April 18, Transport Minister Ho Nghia Dung said the project will create a nearest link between the two northwestern provinces of Son La and Lai Chau and effectively serve socio-economic development strategy and national defence in the region./.
