The head of the Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations has urged Kon Tum province in the Central Highlands to continue enhancing external relations, especially people-to-people ties with neighbouring Lao and Cambodian localities.

During a working session with Kon Tum province’s Party Committee on September 6, the commission’s Chairman Hoang Binh Quan said the province, which shares a border line with both Laos and Cambodia, plays an important role in terms of national defence and security.
He asked Kon Tum to further foster its ties with southern Lao provinces and Cambodia’s Rattanakiri province through regular meetings, providing assistance in various fields including training and encouraging local businesses to invest in Laos and Cambodia.

In recent year, the ties between Kon Tum and neighbouring Lao and Cambodian localities have recorded important development in terms of economics, culture, education and training.

In particular, the sides have maintained border security and basically completed the planting and upgrading of border marker systems.-VNA
