The Central Highlands province of Kon Tum plans to invest more than 66.7 billion VND (about 3 million USD) in four districts which border Laos and Cambodia, helping boost local socio-economic development.

The plan also aims to ensure people’s living and social orders in the border districts of Dak Glei, Ia H’Drai, Ngoc Hoi and Sa Thay.

Under the plan, Dak Glei and Ia H’Drai districts will receive about 15 billion VND (680,000 USD) each while Ngoc Hoi and Sa Thay will be provided with 26.7 billion VND (1.21 million USD) and 10 billion VND (454,000 USD), respectively.

The investments will be poured into projects on construction of rural roads, water supply facilities and cultural houses.

Over the past years, the provincial authorities have invested billions of VND to develop infrastructure facilities and carry out numerous social welfare policies in its border district while focusing on education and vocational training for young people, with the aim of promoting local socio-economic and cultural development.

Kon Tum is a poor province in the Central Highlands region. It shares a 142km borderline with the Lao province of Attapeu and a 95km borderline with Cambodia’s Rattanakiri province.-VNA
