Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has instructed the Central Highlands province of Kon Tum to work harder to reduce poverty, noting that the poverty rate in the province is high while the locality boasts large areas of fertile land.

At a working session with local officials July 6, the Deputy PM recommended that the province review its land use plan to enhance efficiency. At the same time, the allocation of farming and forestry land to farmers for cultivation and care should be done in the direction of ensuring stable and long term use.

In particular, Deputy PM Phuc said the province should promptly deal with local land complaints, particularly those in ethnic minority areas, in order to prevent regrettable incidents.

Phuc also urged Kon Tum to boost external relations and maintain a border of friendship with neighbouring Cambodian localities.

On the occasion, the province has asked the government to consider more support policies for developing the Bo Y international border gate economic zone and investment for building some major roads and bridges.-VNA
