The 390,000-USD project will be pilotedover 18 months in the northern Hai Duong province and Hau Giangprovince, said VWCC General Director Koo Gyo Hoom at the event, addingthat the project will focus on consultation, education and giving pre-and post-marriage support.
He highlighted that the project aimsto raise awareness of women in the localities of cross-culture marriagein line with the two nations’ regulations, making contributions toreducing risks of illegal international marriage brokerages.
Forher part, VWU Vice President Bui Thi Hoa called for furtherdissemination of cross culture marriage and improvements in theoperations of consulting marriage centres to realise the projecttargets.
According to statistics from the Ministry of PublicSecurity, some 115,600 Vietnamese nationals married foreigners from over50 countries and territories from 2008-2014. Since 2004, over 11,000women in Hau Giang province married foreigners, 70 percent of which arefrom the RoK.-VNA
