The President of Vietnam’s General Confederation of Labour (VGCL), Dang Ngoc Tung, had an informal meeting with the Deputy Director General of the International Labour Organisation (ILO), Guy Ryder, in Hanoi on Feb. 23.
At the meeting, they discussed a number of labour and trade union issues.
Ryder spoke of the time he spent as Secretary General of the International Trade Union Confederation, announcing that he will be standing as a candidate in the forth coming election for Director General of the ILO.
Tung said he believes that Ryder will win the support of many other trade unions from a range of countries as he has extensive knowledge and experience of international trade union affairs and will do his utmost to contribute to the ILO in the future.
As part of his visit to Vietnam , Ryder will also meet with representatives from several of Vietnam ’s state agencies.-VNA
