Prime Minister Buasone Bouphavanh of Laos and his Cambodian counterpart, Hun Sen, signed an agreement on border demarcation in Phnom Penh on November 25.

The agreement was the outcome of talks held between the two leaders upon the arrival of the Lao Prime Minister on the same day for a visit to Cambodia.

Under the agreement, the two sides will speed up the border demarcation so as to plant 12 percent of the remaining border markers.

After completing the job, the two countries will sign an agreement on borders, said Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong.

He added, however, that the deadline for the completion of border planting has not yet been fixed.

The talks also focused on measures to strengthen bilateral ties on various issues, especially economics and education.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen is scheduled to pay an official visit to Laos in December at the invitation of his Lao counterpart, Buasone Bouphavanh./.
