Lao Defence Minister Chansamone Chanyalath (Source: kpl.gov.la) Vientiane (VNA) – Lao President Bounnhang Vorachit on December 10 issued a decree on promoting the military rank of Defence Minister Chansamone Chanyalath from Senior Lieutenant General to General.
The President assigned Prime Minister Thongloun Sisulith to direct the enforcement, the country’s Socio-Economic Daily newspaper reported on December 11.
The issuance of the decree is pursuant to the 2015 Constitution and the 2018 Law on Military Officers of the Lao People's Army, and follows the Prime Minister’s proposal on November 23.
Chansamone Chanyalath, born in 1946, was appointed to Defence Minister of Laos at the first Plenary Session of the eighth National Assembly in April 2016.-VNA
