Ben Tre (VNA) – Lao Deputy Prime Minister Sonexay Siphadone paid a working visit to the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre on October 26.

At the meeting, Vo Thanh Hao, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, briefed the guest on local fruit and aquatic farming industry. Ben Tre is home to 70,000 hectares of coconut trees which produce nearly 600 million coconuts a year.

The province and its agriculture have been facing challenges sparked by climate change, he added.

The Lao Deputy PM lauded the provincial socio-economic progress, particularly its thriving coconut industry.

He said the Lao Government welcomes Ben Tre authorities and businesses to study the Lao market to boost cooperation in the coming time.

On the occasion, Sonexay Siphadone visited the Luong Quoi coconut processing company at the An Hiep industrial park in Chau Thanh district.-VNA
