On the occasion of Laos’ National Day, Lao Ambassador in Thailand gave an interview to a Vietnam News Agency correspondent, speaking highly of the special rapport between the two countries.
He said he believed that the bilateral ties would be further strengthened and developed for the interest of the two peoples.
Vietnam and Laos have fought shoulder to shoulder in the past struggle for national independence and liberation and now are closely cooperating with each other in the national construction and socio-economic development cause. In addition to its assistance to Laos in education, Vietnam is also one of leading investors in the land of ‘millions of elephants’, the Ambassador said.
On the occasion, a delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand led by Ambassador Ngo Duc Thang paid a visit to the Lao Embassy in Thailand. The Vietnamese delegation expressed their confidence in the strong development of the friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
Bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos is approaching the target of 850-900 million USD for 2010. The two countries expect to increase the turnover to 2 billion USD by 2015. Their governments have agreed to focus cooperation in trade-investment, transport, energy, industrial crop and mining. In addition, the two sides will accelerate projects and programmes to develop consumer good production./.
