Vientiane (VNA) - The Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association (LVFA) Central Committee has presented 100 million LAK (around 12,000 USD) to support Vietnamese people suffered losses caused by recent floods and storms.

The money was handed over to the Vietnam Embassy in Laos in the afternoon of November 9.

Speaking at the hand-over ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Ba Hung thanked the LVFA and vowed to promptly deliver the aid to targeted beneficiaries in Vietnam.

Somdee Bounkhun, Deputy Head of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee’s Commission for External Affairs who represents the LVFA, stressed that the two countries share a traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation.

In that spirit, the Party, State and people of Laos have followed closely and prioritised giving aid to affected people, he added.

The Lao official believed under the leadership of the Vietnamese Party and local authorities, people in natural disaster-hit localities will soon overcome difficulties and stabilise their lives.-VNA
