At a reception the same day, Van HuuChien, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, briefed the guestsof Da Nang’s socio-economic achievements over the past time and those incooperation between the city and several Lao localities.

Chitmani, who is also a member of Laos’s Party Politburo andSecretariat, expressed his pleasure at the progress Da Nang has madeover the recent past as well as outcomes of all-round cooperationbetween the city and some southern Lao provinces.

Both sidesdiscussed issues related to inspection work and anti-corruptionmeasures, sharing experience in terms of personnel training andpopularisation of laws.

To date, Da Nang has signed 29cooperation agreements with a wide range of Lao localities, focusing onboosting their links in the spheres of business, planning, health andeducation.

Last year, the city raked in 39.6 million USD fromits exports to Laos. It now has four businesses operating effectively inthe country, with a combined investment capital of 52.3 million USD.-VNA

Dr. Gildas Tréguier, Secretary-General of the France-Vietnam Health Federation (FSFV), said the visit comes as Vietnam is opening further to the world and entering a new stage of development, creating greater demand for experience sharing and closer cooperation with international partners, including France. Phu Tho: 200kg bomb safely relocated, detonated

According to a report by the Phu Tho Military Command, local residents spotted the bomb on August 31 in the Da River after the river water receded, exposing it beneath mud and soil on the riverbed. The bomb remained intact, including its fuse, and was located about 300m from a residential area.
