A delegation of the Lao Government Inspection Authority led by its General Inspector Bunthong Chitmani on July 8 paid a visit to the central city of Da Nang.

At a reception the same day, Van Huu Chien, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, briefed the guests of Da Nang’s socio-economic achievements over the past time and those in cooperation between the city and several Lao localities.

Chitmani, who is also a member of Laos’s Party Politburo and Secretariat, expressed his pleasure at the progress Da Nang has made over the recent past as well as outcomes of all-round cooperation between the city and some southern Lao provinces.

Both sides discussed issues related to inspection work and anti-corruption measures, sharing experience in terms of personnel training and popularisation of laws.

To date, Da Nang has signed 29 cooperation agreements with a wide range of Lao localities, focusing on boosting their links in the spheres of business, planning, health and education.

Last year, the city raked in 39.6 million USD from its exports to Laos. It now has four businesses operating effectively in the country, with a combined investment capital of 52.3 million USD.-VNA
