General Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos Choummaly Sayasone, left Ho Chi Minh City on December 28, concluding his three-day official friendship visit to Vietnam.

During the visit, Sayasone held talks with Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and met with President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.

The Vietnamese leaders affirmed the visit was an important political event in the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam 2012 Friendship and Solidarity Year, reflecting the faithful friendship, solidarity and close fraternity between the two Parties, States and peoples.

The Lao leader and President Sang co-chaired a press conference to announce the triumph of the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam 2012 Friendship and Solidarity Year.

Sayasone received representatives from the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the Vietnam-Laos Friendship Association and the Liaison Committee of former Vietnamese voluntary soldiers and military specialists in Laos .

He also hosted a ceremony to present the Lao Party and State’s noble orders to a number of senior and former Vietnamese leaders.

Before leaving HCM City , the Lao leader visited the city’s Hi-Tech Park.

Right after landing in Laos, Sayasone sent a telegram expressing his thanks to Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and President Truong Tan Sang.-VNA
