Vientiane (VNA) – Lao Party General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith hosted a reception in Vientiane, Laos on November 29 for ambassadors and representatives of international organisations in Laos who came to celebrate 49th National Day of Laos.

Among the distinguished guests was a delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Laos led by Ambassador Nguyen Minh Tam and his spouse.

The host expressed his heartfelt gratitude to all friend nations and international organisations for their multifaceted assistance over the years, which have played a crucial role in Laos' overall success, including its role as ASEAN Chair 2024.

Laos will continue to actively contribute to the efforts of the international community within various cooperation frameworks of which it is a member, aiming to promote peace, stability, resilience and collaboration for global and regional sustainable development, he said.

As Laos will celebrate the 50th anniversary of its National Day, the 70th anniversary of its membership in the United Nations, and the final year of its 9th national socio-economic development plan next year in preparation for its graduation from least developed country status in 2026, he expressed confidence in the continued support from international friends and organisations./.
