Laos always attaches importance to audit activities and pledges to create the best conditions for the State audit agencies of Vietnam and Laos to cooperate more effectively.

Lao Prime Minister Thongsin Thammavong and National Assembly Vice Chairman Saysomphon Phomvihan made this statement at a reception for a delegation from the State Audit of Vietnam led by Auditor General Dinh Tien Dung, in Vientiane on April 27, during the guest’s visit from April 25- 27.

They thanked the Vietnamese Party and Government, and particularly State Audit, for their help over the years, saying the delegation’s visit is a practical and meaningful activity in celebrating Vietnam-Laos Friendship Year 2012.

For his part, Dung gave a briefing on the results of talks held between the two audit agencies. He said the two sides will continue exchanging visits, organising joint audits and supporting each other in multilateral forums.

Dung said Vietnam will help Laos train audit personnel as well as send experts to Laos to assist the Lao side in upgrading auditing competence.

The Auditor General also expressed hope that the Lao side will work to add State audit cooperation into the cooperative agreement on economics, culture, science and technology, aiming to increase the effectiveness of cooperation between both audit agencies as well as both countries.-VNA
