Lao Prime Minister Buasone Bouphavanh received Chairman of the Commission for External Relations under the Communist Party of Vietnam’s Central Committee in Vientiane on Aug. 8.

Chairman Quan informed the Lao PM the results of talks between him and his Lao counterpart during his Laos visit and cooperation activities between the two external relations commissions which had been discussed in Hanoi .

Quan affirmed the determination of the two commissions of closer cooperation and mutual assistance in implementing the contents of agreements reached by the Vietnamese and Lao Parties’ political bureaus.

The two commissions will accelerate the compilation of a book on the history of Vietnam-Laos special fighting alliance, which is expected to be completed before the two Parties convene their national congresses.

He said to prepare for the annual meeting between the Vietnamese and Lao political bureaus, the two commissions will set up a joint working group to supervise Vietnamese ODA-funded projects in Laos .

The Lao PM praised the establishment of the joint working group.

He said the two governments’ sub-committees for cooperation were assigned to coordinate the implementation of agreements reached at annual meetings of the Vietnamese and Lao Parities’ political bureaus.

He also informed that Laos will build places for commemoration of late President Ho Chi Minh in Thakhek town, Khammouan province and in Vientiane and hold a celebration of the 60th year when the Vietnamese voluntary soldiers were sent to Laos for assistance (Oct. 30).

The Lao PM said the unconditionally mutual support between the two countries has become a tradition of the Vietnam-Laos relations.

Earlier, on Aug. 7, the Vietnamese delegation was received by Vice President Bounnhang Volachith.

The Lao Vice State President highlighted new developments in the Vietnam-Laos relations, including the strong increase of Vietnamese investment in Laos and delegation exchanges at all levels.

Annual meetings between the two Parties’ political bureaus have put forth suitable policies, bringing in effective cooperation between the two neighbouring countries, he said.

During their stay in Laos , the Vietnamese delegation visited the Hanoi- Vientiane Friendship School , a Vietnamese-funded gifted school for ethnic students and a building complex for athletes attending the upcoming SEA Games 25 whose investor is Vietnamese Hoang Anh-Gia Lai group./.
