The seventh plenary session of the National Assembly of Laos got underway in Vientiane capital on July 7.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, NA Chairwoman Pany Yathotou highlighted the achievements Laos has gained in many fields in the past year under the leadership of the Lao Revolutionary People’s Party and the guidance of the Government.

Political stability, social order and safety were ensured, many socio-economic development goals reached, while the Millennium Development Goal on Development completed, she said.

During the session, the legislative body will focus on discussing Government reports on the implementation of socio-economic development and State budget plans for the 2013-2014 fiscal year and orientations for the next.

Reports on operations for the 2013-2014 fiscal year and orientations for the next of the State Audit Organisation, the Supreme People’s Procuracy and the Supreme People’s Court will be also put on table.

Deputies are expected to debate six draft laws, including two new ones on independent auditing and the combat against money laundering and money supply for terrorism.
