Nghe An (VNA) –
A Lao man was detained by Nghe An province’s Quy Chau district police and the provincial police drug criminal investigation department on September 7 as he attempted to transport 10 bricks of heroin and one kg of methamphetamine to Vietnam.

Va Nhia Ly, born in 1992, was caught red handed in Chau Hanh commune, Quy Chau district.

He confessed that he had purchased the drug in Laos and then transported for consumption in Vietnam.

Further investigation is underway.

Last month, the border guard force of central Quang Tri province arrested a Lao man carrying 65,800 methamphetamine pills from Laos to Vietnam. Liep Latsavong, 19, residing in the Lao province of Savannakhet, was caught while transporting the pills, which were contained in 329 bags.

Based on the man’s testimony, the border force station at the Lao Bao international border gate and the drug and crime prevention team of the provincial border guard arrested Tran Khac Hoang, 27, in Bac Giang province and Nguyen Anh Quynh, 19, in Tuyen Quang province, who had hired Liep Latsavong to transfer the drugs to Vietnam. –VNA
