The Central Committee of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) closed its 10th plenum in Vientiane on May 26 after 14 days of sitting under the chair of Party General Secretary Choummaly Sayasone.

The meeting concentrated its discussions on the implementation of 2014-2015 political tasks, the socio-economic development scheme and budget estimate for the first half of this year, as well as tasks until this October and for 2015-2016.

The revision of the Constitution and the draft political report for the upcoming National Party Congress were also high on the agenda.

It was reported at the conference that Laos has maintained political stability and social order with an economic growth of 7.5 percent despite remarkable impacts from complicated developments in the regional and world situations.

Party organisations and administrations at all levels are required to continue with their efforts to carry out the Party’s guideline, reform the political system and create an favourable environment for investment and socio-economic development.

Regarding the Constitution amendment, the National Committee for Draft Amendment of the 2003 Constitution will continue considering changes to be made to the document with a view to submitting to the next National Assembly session.-VNA
