Prime Minister Thongsinh Thammavong and Vice President Bounnhang Volachit of Laos have reiterated that their party and people will spare no effort to preserve and foster the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam.

The two leaders made the statement at a reception for Hoang Binh Quan, Head of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations in Vientiane on August 9 during the latter’s working visit, which began from August 5.

They highly valued the outcomes of the working session between the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) Central Committee’s Commission for External Relations and its Vietnamese counterpart held earlier.

In the session, both sides discussed and agreed on concrete measures to deploy the agreements reached by high-ranking leaders to elevate the Vietnam-Laos special solidarity in a deeper, highly effective and practical manner.

The Lao leaders expressed their wishes that the two commissions will forge tighter collaboration and enhance mutual support to successfully realise their parties’ external policies as well as the agreements signed by the two countries.

At the meeting, Quan lauded the Lao Party, State and people’s crucial achievements over the past years, voicing his belief that Laos will continue reaping new fruits and successfully concretising its 7 th five-year plan on socio-economic development.

He also briefed the Lao leaders on recent developments in Vietnam as well as the execution of high-level agreements between the two parties and countries and cooperation between the commissions.

On the occasion, in the authorisation of the Party and State leaders, Quan presented Vietnam’s Independence and Friendship Orders and Medals to members and collectives of the Lao Commission for External Relations for their contributions to strengthening the two countries’ relations.

Quan and his entourage held working session with Lao relevant ministries, sectors and branches on the progress of implementing the 2013 Agreement on Economic, Cultural, Education, Scientific and Technological Cooperation and inspected the tempo of Vietnam-funded projects in Laos.-VNA
