Lao President Choummaly Sayasone hosted a reception in Vientiane on December 1 for representatives from diplomatic missions and international organisations in the country on the occasion of its 39 th National Day.

He told the guests that Lao people have achieved significant progresses in the country’s socio-economic development in 2014, with political stability maintained and social order and security ensured.

The country’s GDP growth is estimated at 7.5 percent, while per capita income is 1,692 USD per year, and poverty rate is reduced to 8.11 percent.

The Lao leader took the occasion to thank foreign countries and organisations for their constant assistance to help Laos fulfil its socio-economic development targets, and expressed his hope for further support from them.-VNA
