The Lao newspaper Vientiane Times quoted Lao tourism authorities as saying that a number of activities took place at the National Culture Hall on January 25 to mark the launch of the year-long tourism promotion, including cultural performances and an exhibition of Lao, Chinese tourism products, and screening of films on the two countries’ special attractions.
According to the Lao Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism, more than 4.1 million visitors came to Laos in 2018, of whom over 800,000 came from China, an annual increase of 26 percent.
This year, Laos expects to welcome more than 1 million Chinese visitors.
According to the China Tourism Academy, Chinese people made 140 million overseas trips last year, up 13.5 percent on year.-VNA
