– Laos and China on November 14 issued a joint statement affirming the necessity to enhance bilateral cooperation during the visit to Laos by Chinese President Xi Jinping.

The two countries pledged to develop comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership in the long run based on mutual trust and assistance. 

They recognised the bilateral cooperative efficiency in regional and international issues and vowed to strengthen coordination at multilateral forums, including the United Nations, Asia-Europe Meeting, East Asia cooperation mechanisms, and Lancang-Mekong Cooperation.

Laos and China agreed to build a community of shared future with strategic significance based on mutual trust and maintain high-level meetings for bilateral cooperation development orientations in the new era.

They were unanimous to step up cooperation and experience sharing in various fields, including diplomacy, economics, legal enforcement, agriculture, energy and telecommunication.

Regarding the East Sea issue, Laos and China called on the parties involved to soon reach a Code of Conduct (COC) in the East Sea and jointly build a peaceful, friendly, busy and cooperative marine route.

On the occasion, the two countries signed 17 cooperation documents to intensify their cooperative ties in investment fields, infrastructure building, science-technology, human resources training, and power energy.-VNA
