Laos and China have signed 18 cooperation compacts covering assistance and cooperation in a range of fields, including trade, economics, technology, infrastructure construction and finance.
The two nations inked these agreements during the official visit to Laos by Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping, from June 15-16.
Xi held talks with his Lao counterpart Bounnhang Vorachith, during which the two leaders discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, and agreed to further strengthen the traditional friendship between the two countries.
The two vice presidents also agreed to study untapped potentials of both countries with the aim of stepping up bilateral trade and investment.
While in Laos , Xi also met with the Party General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone and Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh.
The Lao leaders applauded Xi’s visit and spoke highly of China ’s support and assistance to Laos in its socio-economic development.

Choummaly said relations between the two parties and state are growing well and the bilateral relationship was elevated to comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership during his visit to China in 2009.
Xi said the visits by high-ranking delegations from the two countries have helped increase mutual trust and understanding. He pledged to encourage Chinese sectors to promptly implement the newly-signed pacts.
Xi said China is willing to share experiences in the party building work and personnel training with Laos and will continue to support its national development./.
