Vientiane (VNA) – The Lao Health Ministry on October 12 reported additional three deaths from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the total to 33.

In only two days, the country recorded seven deaths, mostly unvaccinated patients and those with underlying diseases.

The ministry also confirmed 549 new cases, including 540 in the community and the remainder were imported, raising the national count to 29,398.

The same day, the Centre for COVID‐19 Situation Administration of Thailand announced 9,445 more new cases and 84 deaths in the past 24 hours.

To date, Thailand has recorded 1.73 million COVID-19 cases, including 17,835 deaths.

The Thai Government set the goal of ensuring 120 million vaccine doses this year, focusing on booster shots and jabs for children aged 3-11.

On October 11, Cambodia launched a campaign to offer booster shots nationwide, in the context that the campaign to vaccinate the adult population of 10 million reached over 99 percent.

In a press release on October 12, the Cambodian Health Ministry logged 17 deaths and 267 new cases, including 19 imported ones, in the past 24 hours. So far, the country has discovered 115,335 infections, 108,802 of them recovered and 2,544 died from the disease./.
