The census is intended to collect fundamental information on the country’s population, population structure, educational attainment, accessibility to health services, employment, unemployment, and housing conditions.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister Bounpone Bouttanavong, who is also Chairman of the National Steering Committee for the 4 th Census, urged surveyors, inspectors and other relevant bodies to work hard and overcome all difficulties for the survey success.
The results of the census will provide an important source of information to help the Government assess the outcomes of the 7 th 5-year Socio-economic Development Plan between 2011 and 2015 and the progress towards the targets set for the Millennium Development Goals in 2015.
