Laos health authorities have confirmed the first case of human infection of H1N1 virus in a 27-year-old Australian man who came to the country on June 11.

The man was found to be suffering from symptoms of the influenza A (H1N1) but did not require hospitalisation, said the Laos news agency (KPL), citing the Ministry of Public Health at a press conference in Vientiane Capital on June 17.

The patient has recovered although he was not treated with the Tamiflu vaccine.

This person had been traveling in the countries where there were confirmed cases of swine flu.

At present, the Lao Ministry of Public Health has been contacting those people who had close contacts with him and monitoring them for flu symptoms./.
