Laos is likely to use Vietnam’s seaports as gateways to import and export its goods in anticipation of Thailand’s closure of seaports due to political instability, said Chairman of the Laos’ International Transport Association Prachit Sayavong.

According to Sayavong, 90 percent of the land-locked country’s imports and exports go through Thailand’s seaports, leaving the rest for transit at Vietnam’s seaports.

In the field of maritime transport, the Lao government has cooperated with Vietnam in the development and use of the Vung Ang seaport in central Vietnam./.
