Vientiane (VNA) – The Lao Government on March 2 continued to relax restrictions on entry for certain visitors and launched an online visa portal, allowing foreign tourists and overseas Lao to apply for a visa online.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been authorised to issue visas for certain visitors who had registered their vaccine codes via the website laogreenpass.gov.la and no longer requires authorisation from the COVID taskforce.

Those eligible include diplomatic employees, employees of international organisations, businesspeople, investors and other foreigners residing in Laos as well as Lao descents living abroad.

Visa holders can enter Laos, undergo RT-PCR testing and must be quarantined at a designated facility for 48 hours before self-monitoring their health at home for seven days.

In addition, the Lao Government also agreed to remove the requirement for wrist monitor systems among these groups and replace it with a personal QR code on the Lao app KYC./.
